The Project
The project examines the use of e-cigarettes and their potential effects on health through chemical, toxicological and clinical analyses.
In parallel, it assesses users' exposure to the relevant substances and develops tools to estimate their use at the population level.
The results are expected to contribute to a better understanding of the associated risks and to the design of prevention measures that protect public health.
Research Objectives
-
I
Chemical & toxicological analysis
Identify the ingredients of novel tobacco products and the metabolites they generate, characterising their toxicological profile.
-
II
Clinical assessment of exposure
Evaluate users' actual exposure to the relevant substances through clinical analysis and the measurement of biomarkers.
-
III
Population-level estimation tools
Develop tools to estimate the use of these products across the population and to inform public-health prevention policy.
